Posted by frasherfamily08 on February 8, 2009

So here it is folks….the (nearly) finished project. We just bought a new (more appropriately sized) ceiling fan that I’m sure Michael will put up soon. You can see more pictures on the “Nursery” tab of the page. Hope you all like it.

My EXTRA special helper!! I was so excited when Michael came in with the camera! Most men just don’t think of these things…I’m honored to have one who does! Thanks JEN!!!!

Ch-Ch-Changes

Posted by frasherfamily08 on February 6, 2009

So, it’s already begun…my knack for changing something when we’re already elbow deep in paint.  Michael worked so hard 2 weeks ago painting the nursery that bold/vibrant shade of green and now I’ve found a DIFFERENT bedding set that I’ve fallen in love with!

Photobucket

While I do really like that monkey/jungle theme we picked out at Babies R Us, I was really trying to rationalize that the dark bedding on the dark furniture would be ok, I truly wasn’t ok with it being so dark. This above picture shows the new bedding on the same finish of wood we have in Preston’s room so it had me sold! But it’s still fun but lightens up the room!

SO…this is it! I’ve ordered it (since I’m good at finding things that aren’t readily available) from Target.com and it should be here next week :) Miss Jenny is going to help me paint this weekend to give Michael a break. We just asked him to tape since we both are no good at it :)

Be on the look out for MORE updated pictures of the nursery soon!

A little more light

Posted by frasherfamily08 on February 2, 2009

Another home improvement…Our brand new door was installed yesterday (Sunday). It looks absolutely gorgeous, especially with all that light shining into our entry way now. It makes all the difference in the world! See the change from the outside:

“God gives you what you need”

Posted by frasherfamily08 on January 22, 2009

A little Frasher boy is what God ordered for us!!  We’re so excited no matter what it is. Some people say boys are easier the first time around but my mom wouldnt know that would she?? Hehe!! A co-worker of mine said the coolest thing to me when I was explaining to her how I wanted a girl so badly in the beginning….she said “God gives you what you need.” I thought that was so intuitive of her. It’s just something I never thought I’d hear.

thank heaven Pictures, Images and Photos

Anyway, onto the good stuff…we got to see EVERYTHING!! She took measurements of things that looked like a blob of black to us, hehe! She took cross section measurements of his brain, checked to make sure he had 4 chambers in his heart, measured all of his bones, even a measurement of his lips to check for cleft pallat (I know I’m not spelling that right but I’m sure you’ll get it) the list goes on and on and on. I feel so blessed that everything about him is developing just as it should be. He’s almost a pound already!! He smiled at us and waved and spent 99% of the visit playing with his mouth, eye and feet. So, since the theme of the nursery is going to be jungle/rainforest/monkey theme, he has followed suit and turned into “Mommy’s Little Monkey”!! Hehe!!

I can’t even begin the measure the things I’ve been blessed with in recent years…I didn’t think so much happiness in one persons life was possible, or maybe at least not in mine. It’s always harder to see the things we have a hard time believing in until they smack us in the face. My revelation started with my darling husband. I don’t know what I would do without his love and support. And I tell you what, my friends have been instrumental in my ongoing happiness. The older I get, I’m truely beginning to see how life really comes together if you’re patient and believe that ANYTHING is possible. I even have new friends that have become the kind of friends I didn’t expect them to be, in a good way. Everyone is special to me/us in their own way. They all have their own way of fulfilling our life and that, I am truely grateful for!

20 weeks

Posted by frasherfamily08 on January 19, 2009

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe.)

He’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you’ll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Camera Happy

Posted by frasherfamily08 on January 12, 2009

So we made another big purchase that I’ve been wanting for a while. A brand new digital slr camera to catch some of those moments a pocket camera just won’t work quick enough for.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

We got a great deal…got a free 2GB media card and a bigger lense with it to get those extreme close-ups. Thank goodness for Costco’s great prices!

So the primary purpose for this purchase is because there is no way I’m going to risk not capturing a smile or just a smirk in general because my camera just moves too slow. This camera has the “sporting event” setting where I can hold down the button and it just keeps taking pictures so I can capture many pictures in hopes to get the exact one I want!

We should have it this week sometime. I’ll start taking pictures to post on the website of the nursery progression. We find out next week what we’re having for the transformation will start very soon!

Let’s get camera happy!!

18 weeks

Posted by frasherfamily08 on January 5, 2009

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He’s busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you’ll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he’s born. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
